Conn New Wonder II Bb Soprano Sax 1926 Rare Gold/Silver Plate Reunion Bag

$0.00

Here is a rare Conn Bb New Wonder II soprano sax in original silveplate with gold plated keys and highlights. These are more rare than all silver or gold plated horns and the combination is stunning. The horn plays superbly with that rich incomparable Conn sound. It just had a full setup done by Frank Kozyra at Boston Sax Shop and while it played well before it plays extremely well now. Serial from 1926 This horn comes from an unusual fellow, a listed professional artist, patented inventor and professional woodwind player including as a founding member of the storied Navy Commodores as well as with Stan Kenton and others. Sadly, now retired from playing. Being a highly skilled fellow he did the impeccable buildups using rubber that you see on some of the side and palm keys and used the same material in removing the lyre holder. He also removed the ring and put a quality modern adjustable thumb rest. All of this done very skillfully. The horn comes in its well worn brown leather Reunion Blues-San Francisco bag with the side pouch option. Worn but odor free and ready for many more years of use. He used his own custom mouthpieces made from Bb clarinet mouthpieces with the shanks cut, he liked them better than standard soprano mouthpieces. I'll include one from his collection of favorites with the horn as well as lig, cap and a couple of brand new reeds so it will be fully playable on arrival.
